Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-15
This policy covers the Readability Desk Chrome extension. The website is covered by the site privacy policy.
Who is responsible
This extension is operated by SKYSEED TECH LLC. For any privacy-related inquiries, please contact support@k5english.com.
What the extension reads
The extension reads the text you select on a page only when you ask: when you click the toolbar icon or choose “Readability score” in the right-click menu. It does not read pages in the background, does not see the pages you visit, and has no access to other site data.
The free scores stay on your device
The readability scores, counts and highlights are computed inside the extension on your computer. This text is not sent to us or to anyone else.
The optional AI rewrite
If you press Rewrite, the following is sent over HTTPS to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) and from there to the Claude API of Anthropic to produce the rewrite:
- the text in the box at that moment, and the target grade you chose;
- a payment-plan key (see below), so that we can check that your plan is active.
We do not store the text you send or the rewrite. Our server keeps only counts: how many rewrites your plan key has used this month, an overall daily cost counter, and a short-lived per-IP request counter used to block abuse. Logs record the number of characters and tokens, never the text. Anthropic processes the text to answer the request under its own terms and privacy policy; we use Anthropic’s API and do not allow the text to be used for anything else. Do not rewrite text that you are not allowed to send to a third party.
Payments
Paid plans are sold through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe. ExtensionPay assigns your browser a random plan key, stores it in the extension’s synced storage, and sends it with your rewrite request so we can confirm that the plan is active. Card details are entered on Stripe’s pages; we never receive them. ExtensionPay and Stripe have their own privacy policies.
What the extension stores
- the ExtensionPay plan key and plan status (in Chrome’s extension storage, synced by your Chrome account if sync is on);
- for a moment, the text you selected in the right-click menu, so the results window can show it (session storage, cleared when the browser closes).
Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and the data is not used for credit or lending decisions. The extension contains no analytics or advertising code.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the extension removes what it stored in your browser. Our server holds no text; to ask about the counters tied to your plan key, write to support@k5english.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the new text applies from then on.
